The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Set in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, this fantastical story follows Celia and Marco, two specially trained magicians who are part of a bizarre circus. The Night Circus opens and sunset and closes at dawn. It shows up with no warning and leaves without a trace. Each tent is more mystical and original than the one before and circus patrons cannot believe what they are seeing. Marco and Celia have been part of the circus since its conception and they soon find out that they were picked to belong to this circus as part of a magical competition between two cruel, master-minding, older magicians–Celia’s father and Marco’s benefactor. But as Celia and Marco each discover who their competitor is, they begin to fall in love with each other which becomes a dangerous part of the game.

Morgenstern’s book is full of rich characters and magical elements. Perfect for the reader that likes just a hint of fantasy.
