Chip Lipton has everything. He is a successful pilot for a commercial airline with a cozy home life with his wife and twin daughters. Until Chip’s plane crashes into Lake Champlain and he is only one of a small handful of survivors. 39 passengers die on his flight. Distraught and with Chip suffering from PTSD, the Lipton family moves into an old house in the White Mountains. The small town is full of friendly people who seem to take a special interest in the family, especially the twin girls. But is their interest just out of hospitality? And what about the strange things that the Lipton family finds in their new home, among them an old door in the basement that has been sealed shut with 39 carriage bolts? Is it just the stress and trauma of the tragic plane accident catching up with Chip or should he be scared for his family’s lives?
