Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan

Set in a summer home near Ogunquit, Maine, three generations of women from the same family come together, each with their own troubles. Alice is the family matriarch, struggling to deal with events from her past and coming to terms with getting older. Ann Marie is Alice’s sister-in-law, trying to be picture perfect but dealing with her own personal and family struggles. Kathleen is Alice’s oldest daughter, a recovering alcoholic. And Maggie is Kathleen’s adult daughter, pregnant by her ne’er-do-well boyfriend, Gabe. Over the course of a few weeks at the shore, four strong personalities collide but ultimately try to remember what it means to be a family.
