Goodman’s book is a suspenseful, atmospheric novel threaded with folklore. I would suggest any of Goodman’s novels to those that have enjoyed Anita Shreve (The Pilot’s Wife, Fortune’s Rocks) , Jodi, Picoult (My Sister’s Keeper, The Pact), and Kate Morton (The House at Riverton, The Forgotten Garden).
